Music Playlist week #5

Music Playlist week #5

Welcome to Damson's weekly feature.

Each week we will share 10 great tracks with you.

Enjoy!

Michael Kiwanuka with Tom Mensch - Money

Michael Kiwanuka is one seriously talented dude. When this new release came out of the blue our socks were spectacularly blown off. A bit of a change of pace from his usual stuff but who cares when it's as good as this is!

Hot Chip - Spell

It's hard to believe that Hot Chip are on to their 7th album. This track seemed to appear out of nowhere a couple of months ago and has been a serious Damson earworm ever since. The album seems like a real return to form too.

Built To Spill - Goin' Against Your Mind

We only discovered these guys quite recently, despite them being around for over 20 years. This epic, sprawling track is a real Damson HQ favourite. After listening to this, take the time to go through all 8 of their studio albums. You won't be disappointed.

Biffy Clyro - Balance, Not Symmetry

Quite simply, one of the finest British bands of the last 20 years. They took a while to break the mainstream but when they did they released hit after hit. This is the title track from a concept soundtrack, created for a recently released movie, called (handily) "Balance, Not Symmetry".

Foals - Exits

The first single from the first part of the twin album release, "Everything Saved Will Not Be lost", is an instant classic. Somewhere along the way Foals shelved the complex time changes and started producing hits like this, and it really works. More like this please, guys.

Bon Iver - Hey, Ma

After the polarising 2016 offering "22, A Million", Bon Iver dropped this lead single from their latest release. It seems like a return to what made them so revered in the first place, dreamy and sensitive with warm synths. For us, this is possibly the single of the year so far.

Human Resources - Expectations

We don't know much at all about these guys, and that's OK. But we do LOVE this track. Do yourself a favour and get it on repeat, just as soon as you've listened to the rest of the playlist of course!

MSTRKRFT - Buffalo Fat

MSTRKRFT get played A LOT at Damson HQ. You want some heavy, crunching electronica to get you motivated for whatever you need to do that day? Look no further. MSTRKRFT are the guys for you.

Prince - Raspberry Beret

Prince Nelson needs no introduction. Neither do his songs. We could have chosen any one of about 100 to be honest, but "Raspberry Beret" is such a feel-good track we couldn't possibly not include it. We miss Prince. Everyone misses Prince.

Ben L'Oncle Soul - Seven Nation Army

You will have DEFINITELY heard this song before, but maybe not like this. French Soul singer Ben L'Oncle Soul's version of The White Stripes classic track is so, so good. Give it a listen. And then another. And another.
